Telerik Q3 2012: Gauge and PivotGrid

Some controls I was hoping Telerik would add for a long time appeared in the Q3 2012 release of the framework.  For the longest time that I can remember, Infragistics and other vendors had a gauge control for displaying certain benchmarks.  While gauges can be overused, some users like to see a gauge as it easily provides a meaningful representation of data representing the progression of numerical data (such as a completion percentage, a percentage of resources collected, etc).

The latest Telerik Q3 2012 framework has finally added this control.  I’m sure it’s not feature complete, but with any new control from Telerik, there will be many features to come that will make the gauge an excellent control.  View the demo here: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/gauge/examples/overview/defaultcs.aspx

The next control I’m glad to see it being offered, as it will benefit my organization personally, is a control that works like the Tablix in SSRS, but is now within Telerik’s ASP.NET AJAX framework: the PivotGrid control.  The PivotGrid provides a comprehensive analysis and aggregation of the data bound to it.  While in beta form, the control is very promising and I’m sure will greatly mature in next releases.  View the demo here: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/pivotgrid/examples/firstlook/defaultcs.aspx
